All going well here in the Aegean. We are in Kythnos after cruising 60 miles on a NE wind and collecting rounded white marble stones at uninhabited St.George's island. Hid from strong SW winds last night and E winds tonight -so weather is all over the map! The baby dolphins were swimming up big translucent waves and launching themselves out the top of the crests -great fun to watch too!
Cheers from aboard Margarita

We had a lovely group last trip and were lucky enough to find a 15kg anchor and 60m of line plus land a 20kg tuna. We all ate sushi maki rolls, teryaki tuna steak - with soya, honey and garlic, and then tuna salad for 3 days!

Last week we saved a young English family from peril in Hydra harbour as their anchor chain got wrapped around a catamaran's prop in heavy winds. The Cat's skipper was panicking. Strong winds were coming down from the monastery. All ended well as a Poseidon Charters skipper boarded the charter vessel, ran the engine on stern lines to hold it off the pier, managed to get the anchor chain off the cat prop by loosening chain, then re-moored them on the other side of the harbour -to their great relief. A good example of why joining our flotilla is a gpood idea in foreign waters.

This trip we have 35 passengers on 6 yachts total. Our group aboard Margarita (our 65ft 'by the cabin' flotilla lead yacht) is great fun as are all 5 bareboats -privately chartered boats following.

We had a nice Pirate Night where 35 guests dressed up and sang a pirate boat song for each boat, ate dinner overlooking a tiny Greek harbour at sunset and then danced the 'pirate dance'.

The next day on the way to Milos, we hooked and landed a 12kg tuna. Since it was not hurt in the fight we released it back to Mother Nature. There are 2 flotilla boats with crews from New Brunswick, one boat from the US and 2 boats from BC.

Greetings from Paros island!

We has a beautiful sunny day with 32C. Our guests toured the oldest cave in Europe a 45 million year old cave at Andi Paros which is Tom Hanks" favorite Greek island. They also swam at Golden beach, saw the Cycladic town of Lefkas and marble mines.

The Greeks in the islands are as 'happy go lucky' as always and blame corruption at the government level for the economic situation and the anarchist demonstrators in Athens for the bad press. But a few blocks across town or out in the 4500 islands, everything is as usual -friendly people, warm sun, timeless sites and great times!

2010 Aegean Adventure Cruises begin in calm, sunny weather!

Hello from the good ship Margarita. The boat has been sanded, varnished and beautifully maintained for our new season. The first week has brought beautiful calm weather and warming sun. The demonstrations in Athens were not noticed by our guests who were there for 3 nights and even less out in the friendly islands. Today we are in Hydra and the fisherman are bringing fresh bonito tuna for our dinner tonight! Tomorrow we sail to Milos and stay under the beautiful cliffs of Kleftiko! If we catch our own tuna we will have a barbeque under the stars!
